We are delighted to announce that, on Wednesday 25 January, the Government of India recognised the contributions of our guru, Swami Niranjanananda, with the Padma Bhushan award.
Padma Bhushan is the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India and is given for distinguished service of high order, rather like the MBE and OBE in the UK. Carrying no monetary reward, it is given to deserving individuals on the Republic Day of India every year.
Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati, the Spiritual Head of the Bihar School of Yoga, will be conferred with the award by the President of the Republic of India at a ceremonial function in March/April. He will be presented with a burnished bronze badge with a lotus flower at the centre.
